These radio vehicles were the central nervous system for Germany's armoured blitzkreig spearheads. Each command vehicle was armed with hull machine-gun to help keep enemy infantry at bay and, at times, offer additional firepower to the platoon. Fow-ge030Panzer III E8.55Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf E (Sd Kfz 141) - The Panzer IIIE spearheaded the German Blitzkrieg of Europe. The design of the Panzer III came about due to the necessity of mounting a 50mm gun in order to counter the British 2pdr gun and the Soviet 45mm gun. Initially, due to the need to standardise weapons and ammunition with the infantry a 37mm gun was agreed upon. The first models of the Panzer III begun to appear in 1936 and the design was continually refined. By 1939 the Panzer III E had overcome the difficulties of the suspension system experienced by the previous models. Powered by a 300hp 12-cylinder Maybach engine with an improved gearbox, the vehicle could achieve a top speed of 25mph. See action in limited numbers during the campaign in Poland and France, the Panzer III continued to see action in other theatres throughout the course of the war. Ironically, the Panzer III greatest legacy was the use of its chassis to create the highly successful Sturmgeschütz (StuG) or assault gun. As artillery weapons they are not quite as good as dedicated artillery weapons and, having only two guns in the platoon means you’ll need to re-roll hits. But if you do hit then the AP of 4 and FP of 2+ will take care of even the most difficult target. They fire out to a range of 56 /140cm. Fow-ge210Sd Kfz 250/9 (2cm) 8.55In Flames of War you can take the Sd Kfz 250/9 instead of the Sd Kfz 222 armoured cars in Armoured Car Patrols (page 32 Festung Europa). They can also be used with a Panzer Lehr Armoured Car Patrol instead of the Sd Kfz 234/2 Puma (page 34 Villers-Bocage). The Sd Kfz 250/9 has Half-tracked mobility, Front Armour 1, Side 0 and Top 0, and it is armed with a co-ax MG and a 2cm KwK38 gun. The 2cm KwK38 gun has a Range of 16”/40cm, ROF 3, AT 5 and FP 5+. It is also a Self-defence anti-aircraft gun giving it the ability to fire at aircraft attacking its own platoon.BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge211S307(f) (Pioneer) half-track8.55The S307(f) is the transport vehicle of the 21. Panzerdivision’s Panzer Pionier Platoons (page 32, Monty’s Meatgrinder). Each platoon can have 1 or 2 S307(f) half-tracks to transport its Pioneer MG teams. This platoon can be field as part of a 21. Panzerdivision Panzerpioierkompanie (page 31, Monty’s Meatgrinder). The S307(f) half-track is armoured with 1 front, 0 side and 0 top. It had Half-track mobility, but is Unreliable, so be careful crossing difficult going and moving at the double. BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge212S307(f) Reihenwerfer8.55Even thought the Reihenwerfer is a racked bank of mortars it fires using the Rocket Launcher rules in Flames Of War (page 131). However, the S307(f) Reihenwerfer half-tracks do not create smoke trails and do not suffer from the Fire in the Sky rule. Reihenwerfer is half-tracked mobility with Front armour 1, Side 0 and Top 0. It is additionally armed with an AAMG. It is Unreliable so be careful about driving in Rough terrain or moving At the Double. Firing bombardments it has Range 40”/100cm, Anti-tank 2 and Firepower 6. To field the platoon you need foru S307(f) Reihenwerfer, two Observer Rifle teams, 2 Kubelwagens and a U304(f) half-track. BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge213S307(f) R-Vielfachwerfer8.55The R-Vielfachwerfer Battery use the Rocket Launcher rules on page 131 of Flames Of War and the Armoured Rocket Launcher special rules on page 167 of the rulebook. The Armoured Rocket launcher special rule allows the battery to make a Stormtrooper move even if they have fired a bombardment in the Shooting step. You can also spend points to add extra loading crews (which are included in the pack). Model the vehicle with five or more crew on the base and it counts as two launchers. The S307(f) R-Vielfachwerfer is armoured with a Front of 1, Side 0 and Top 0. Like most of the vehicles based on the French half-tracks it is Unreliable, so be careful about driving in Rough terrain or moving At the Double. Firing bombardments it has Range 56”/140cm, Anti-tank 2 and Firepower 6. To field the platoon you need two S307(f) R-Vielfachwerfer half-tracks, a Observer Rifle team, a Command SMG team, a Kubalwagen and a Kfz 15 field car. BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge214S307(f) (PaK40) half-track8.55The S307(f) (PaK40) anti-tank half-track can be found in the Armoured Anti-tank Platoon providing Weapons Platoon support for the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie and Panzergrenadierkompanie of the 21. Panzerdivision in Monty’s Meatgrinder. The 7.5cm PaK40 gun is more than enough to deal with every Allied tank available in Normandy except the new heavily armoured British Churchills, but these are still vulnerable from the side. The S307(f) mounted PaK40 has a Range 32”/80cm, ROF 2, Anti-tank 12 and Firepower 3+. The S307(f) (PaK40) is a Tank team, and has Half-track mobility. Its Armour is Front 1, Side 0 and Top 0. Additionally it is fitted with an AA MG. It is Unreliable; so take care not to Double unnecessarily. When stalking your prey from a wood or hedge remember if you are unlucky enough to roll a 1 and bog down, a 1 on your skill roll to unbog may result in a break down.BattlefrontFlames of War

Fow-ge245U304(f) leSPW half-track8.55The U304(f) leSPW half-track provides the transport for the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie’s Headquarters and Gepanzerte Panzergrenadier Platoons, Armoured Machine-gun Platoon, Light Anti-tank Gun Platoon and as various command vehicles in other platoons for the 21. Panzerdivision in Monty’s Meatgrinder. Additional U304(f) leSPW half-track can be added to the Gepanzerte Panzergrenadier Platoon so each squad has two vehicles. The U304(f) leSPW half-track is a Transport team, has Front Armour 1, Side 0 and Top 0. It is fitted with a Hull MG and a Passenger-fired AA MG. It is Unreliable; so take care not to Double unnecessarily. It can also break down when unbogging, but as Half-track mobility vehicles as very slow (4”/10cm) in difficult going it is probably best to steer clear of such terrain.BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge246U304(f) 2cm FlaK8.55The U304(f) (2cm) anti-aircraft half-track is the 21. Panzerdivision’s equivalent to the armoured Sd Kfz 10/5. It has armoured rated Front 0, Side 0, and Top 0. It is has Half-tracked mobility, but is however Unreliable so be careful about driving in Rough terrain or moving At the Double. The 2cm FlaK38 gun is ideal for protecting the Panzergrenadiers as they move forward against roaming Allied aircraft. It has Range 16”/40cm, ROF 4, Anti-tank 5 and Firepower 5+. An Armoured Light Anti-aircraft Platoon supporting a 21. Panzerdivision requires 2 or 3 U304(f) (2cm) anti-aircraft half-tracks. BattlefrontFlames of War

Fow-ge251Sd Kfz 251/2D Mortar Carrier 8.55The Sd Kfz 251 Mittlere Schutzenpanzerwagen (medium Armoured Personnel Carrier) was used as the basis for a number of specialist support vehicles required to equip the Panzergrenadiers. The first variant, the Sd Kfz 251/2C, was designed and trialled in 1941 and entered service at the beginning of 1942. BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge252Sd Kfz 2519C (7.5cm)8.55Early/Mid War, Sd Kfz 251/9C (7.5cm) - The Sd Kfz 251/9 Stummel gave Panzergrenadier formations fast and effective fire support allowing them to smash through enemy defences - Pack contains 1 Half Track and 1 Dismounted Crew figures. BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge253Sd Kfz 251/9 D (7.5cm) 8.55You can have Stummels as a weapons choice in your Gepanzerte Panzergrenadierkompanie as either a small section of the Armoured Heavy Platoon (page 26 Villers-Bocage or page 28 Festung Europa) or as the six vehicle Armoured Cannon Platoon (page 27 Villers-Bocage or page 28 Festung Europa). The 7.5cm Assault Gun offers a great direct fire support option for your Panzergrenadiers, great for sorting out those dug in troops (or troops in cover) before an assault. Quite often the massive firepower of your Panzergrenadiers and their half-tracks will be more than enough to pin dug-in troops before assaults, but the great advantage of the Stummel is its ability to knock out enemy teams before hand, making the assault round for the Panzergrenadier an easier task. The Sd Kfz 251/9 D (7.5cm) Stummel has a Range of 24”/60cm, ROF 2, AT 9, and FP 3+. While your Panzergrenadiers approach their target the Stummels can be pounding away, their superior firepower is great for anti-trench work. Although by themselves as part of an Armoured Heavy Platoon they will not pin the enemy (there are only 2 guns in the Section) their ability to knock teams out, when machine-guns have trouble, is handy. Always use the Armoured Heavy Platoon’s Stummels in conjunction with other units; there are only two of them so they are vulnerable to being swamped by superior numbers. However, in the Armoured Cannon Platoon the six vehicles can be used to deliver a devastating concentration of firepower. They also have a good Anti-tank rating (9), but I’d use this only when I have to, or against lightly armoured targets like trucks and armoured cars. Don’t go tank hunting with them as most tanks have a similar (24”/60cm) or longer range and much more armour, leave that job to the Marders who have longer range and more punch.BattlefrontFlames of War
Fow-ge256Sd Kfz 25116C (Flamm)8.55Mid/Late War, Sd Kfz 251/16 C Flammenwerfer - Equipped with two Flame Projectors, the Flammenpanzer was greatly feared by the enemy. With a range of about 35 metres it was lethal against dug in troops - Pack contains 1 Half-Track. BattlefrontFlames of War

Fow-ge262Sd Kfz 251/21 (Triple 15mm)8.55one Resin Sd Kfz 251/21 with plastic parts sprue. The Panzer Brigades enjoyed top priority for the latest equipment Germany could offer. Perhaps more importantly, due to their relatively small size, German industry was able to meet all of the required vehicle numbers to fill out the organisation. This meant that a Panzer Brigade going into combat would be armed to the teeth with exceptional medium tanks, the latest tank-hunters, and a wide variety of specially modified half-tracks. Fow-ge263Sd Kfz 251/22D (PaK40)8.55includes one Sd Kfz 251/22D (PaK40) Half-track with Plastic Components & two Crew figures. The 7.5cm PaK40 anti-tank gun was mounted to the vehicle via a platform constructed to the rear of the driver’s compartment. In order to accommodate the gun a few minor cosmetic changes had to be made to the half-track. These included cutting away a small section of the driver’s roof in order to allow enough room for the recoil mechanism and the addition of a rudimentary travel lock weld to the front of the roof. Since the gun was mounted in a relatively fixed position it could only be traversed around 20° to either the left or right. This meant that in order to engage targets that weren’t directly in the gun’s line of sight the entire vehicle had to be repositioned. Sd Kfz 251/22 (PaK40) (GE263) Sd Kfz 251/22 (PaK40) (GE263) Two stowage bins provided storage for a majority of the ammunition, with additional loose rounds kept in containers under the floor. The gun was fired by the gunner who sat on a small folding wooden seat located on the left-hand side of the gun with target acquisition made using the standard PaK40 sight. In addition to the PaK40, the Sd Kfz 251/22D retained its rear mounted machine-gun for self-defence purposes. Of the limited number of Sd Kfz 251/22 produced from December 1944, all were issued to the Panzer Divisions established in 1945. BattlefrontFlames of War

Fow-ge364Sd Kfz 234/4 (PaK40)8.55includes one Sd Kfz 234/4 (PaK40) Armoured Car & two Crew figures. In November 1944, Hitler ordered production of Sd Kfz 234/3 to cease and be replaced with the Sd Kfz 234/4. While the Sd Kfz 234/3 featured the short barrelled 7.5cm KwK51 L/24, the Sd Kfz 234/4 was to be armed with the formidable 7.5cm PaK40 anti-tank gun. The 7.5cm PaK40 complete with gun shield but minus its wheels was mounted on a pedestal in thecentre of the fighting compartment; this effectively turned the vehicle into a wheeled tank destroyer. However, the design was not without its limitations; as with any hull mounted gun, the PaK40 was severely restricted by its inability to traverse. Sd Kfz 234/4 (PaK40) (GE364) Sd Kfz 234/4 (PaK40) (GE364) Ammunition stowage was also an issue. Due to the size of the rounds, only twelve could be stowed aboard the vehicle at any one time. If this wasn’t enough, the open-topped fighting compartment left the crew vulnerable to small arms fire and shell fragments. Despite these limitations, production of the Sd Kfz 234/4 contuinued until March 1945. BattlefrontFlames of War

The conversion process involved removing the tank turret and building up the hull structure before a 2cm Hängelafette 38 turret was fitted.
